Biomedical Innovations, a premier medical device manufacturer in the Colorado Springs area, is looking for a Mold Operator I to join our Team.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for setting up Mold Machines. general maintenance and operation, inspection of molded parts and assemblies, and other duties as assigned which may include packaging final devices and shipping finished products to the end user.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

  • Follows all employee guidelines and Quality Systems Regulations (QSR’s) as defined by BMED’s practices, policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to insure that customer requirements and FDA (or equivalent) regulations are met.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and acts in accordance with BMED’s Employee Guidelines and applicable quality standards as outlined in BMED’s Quality Manual.
  • Thoroughly reads and follows all job sheets, production drawings, MAI’s and R&D sample assemblies.
  • Installs molds and adjusts controls on Mold Machines.
  • Performs daily inspections on equipment  and molding tools as instructed by the Molding Supervisor or designee.
  • Performs assigned jobs as required by Manufacturing Assembly Instructions (MAI's).
  • Performs on-line inspection and testing to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
  • Ensures proper placement of parts in molds.
  • Performs trouble shooting and recommends solutions to simple problems such as short shots, blow outs, flash, etc.
  • Responsible for the quality of the product produced
  • Abides by all safety and security rules set forth by the company and regulatory agencies.
  • Regular attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned which may include, but are not limited to:
    • Shipping
      • Packages finished product in appropriate containers/boxes with adequate packing materials.
      • Creates and prints product labels for products being shipped.
      • Interfaces regularly with Customer Service, Engineering, Scheduling, Production and Administrative personnel regarding shipping, priorities and logistical issues.
    • Packaging
      • Labeling products with a description of their contents, sealing containers with tape and completing documentation in accordance with BMED and customer requirements.
      • Performing final inspection and counts of items to ensure that they meet production standards.
      • Packaging finished goods into bags, boxes or crates and then moving them to Shipping area for delivery.

Qualifications

Education / Experience:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Past experience with injection molding and/or operating manufacturing machines in preferred.
  • Previous experience in Shipping and/or Packaging is a plus.

Skills / Abilities:

  • Must possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions such as Manufacturing Assembly Instructions, Quality Standards and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • The ability to perform simple writing tasks such as recording log entries, lot numbers and dates.
  • The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
