The objective for this internship assignment is for the student intern to apply programming and design knowledge while working with a lead developer to create an inward-facing web-based product catalog. This system will be used by virtually the entire company. Data from this system will be extracted and used in our outward-facing web site. The project will focus on designing and implementing relevant web-based forms which will include writing and testing programming code. Additionally, there may be some end-user contact to gather requirements or demonstrate parts of the new system.
The student intern will be working with the Supervisor to rewrite an existing product catalog system. The current system is written in MS Access 2003 which limits the ability for it to be used at non-Buffalo locations. The goal is to rewrite the application into a web-based application using an SQL database and web-based development tools. The student may also be exposed to other tasks/functions within the IT Department.
This internship is anticipated for Summer 2013 (approximately 15 weeks) and requires 30-40 hours per week.
