A global leader in these areas, Nissha Medical Technologies is expanding into new markets and is looking for qualified candidates to grow with the Company. We are looking for a Director of Materials Management in Buffalo, NY. The position has overall responsibility for Global Planning, Inventory Management and Strategic Procurement activities throughout the company.  The qualified candidate will oversee all purchasing related activity (stock, non-stock, and MRO purchases) for a multi-site operation. They will oversee the management of the Master Production Schedules for domestically manufactured products, as well as to oversee the planning of finished goods from domestic and global suppliers. The Director of Materials Management is also responsible for maintaining a consolidated demand forecast by collaborating with all Nissha Medical Technology Business Units and Product Line Managers, major customers, and the sales management team. The alignment of the demand and supply activities is a primary responsibility of this position.  This resource will provide primary direction for strategic sourcing initiatives by leveraging combined commodity spends throughout the company.  

Essential Job functions:

  • Directs and oversees Nissha Medical Technologies' Materials Management policies, objectives, and initiatives.Equivalency Testing/ Inspection testing/ Biocompatibility.
  • Directs Global Inventory Management activities to establish and monitor global practices within the Planning (Future Oracle ERP) environment as well as 3rd party distribution center activities.
  • Coordinates the activities of all Purchasing teams to align capabilities and requirements with corporate sourcing initiatives.  Form and direct strategic negotiations teams to fully leverage combined volume spend by commodity.   Tracking, analyzing and optimizing expenditures, as well as negotiating savings with suppliers is critical to this role.   Develop new and innovative purchasing processes to ensure the department procures product efficiently, on-time, and accurately.
  • Implements and maintains a consistent Planning & Purchasing approach throughout all global markets as well as North American operations and works closely with the Logistics and Distribution Department to establish and implement inventory management policies to be utilized in all Nissha Medical Technology Distribution Centers.
  • Closely aligns with Technical Service team, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure consistent application and alignment resulting in Item Master accuracy.  Ensures full compliance with all related FDA, ISO and all related regulatory requirements.
  • Balances demand and manufacturing capacity to best help the company achieve revenue targets, while maximizing finished good and raw material turns.
  • Guides teams to create timely and meaningful management reports, such as purchasing variances, weekly exception reports, and monthly forecast accuracy that enable all areas of the company to manage their own departments more accurately and effectively.   Actively interacts with Sales and Customer Service to provide manufacturing, inventory and replenishment guidelines and strategies.   Responsible for inventory management and developing methods of tracking progress to show optimal cash flow management.
  • Interacts with the VP of Operations and Operations staff to understand and resolve the limitations and constraints of the operations group related to Purchasing, Planning and Inventory Control practices.
  • Interacts with Operations, Sourcing, Suppliers and key supply chain functions daily to understand and communicate the impact of product related decisions and other strategic initiatives that change the global demand or supply picture related to Raw Material and Finished Good availability. 
  • Develops clear business processes that align system tools with company objectives.  Long-term facilitates the Supply Chain evolution to planned fully integrated ERP system implementations, like Oracle.
  • Responsible for creating and further developing existing vendor/supplier relationships to support the company. 

 

Requirements

  • An undergraduate technical or business degree is required. An advanced degree or MBA is preferred.
  • APICS Certification is preferred.
  • Experience in medical products, small parts assembly, or industrial printing related industry a plus.
  • Strong analytic skills and experience extracting and analyzing system generated data required
  • Strong skills using Microsoft Office Suite required, previous use of Navision Operating System preferred
  • Potential to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience establishing, managing and continually improving a planning and scheduling department in a multi-plant or global environment.
  • Managing and improving an MRP system, preferably within Oracle ERP System.
