Graphic Controls is a growing Buffalo based Company specializing in printed products for the the gaming, medical, and recording supply markets. A global leader in these areas, Graphic Controls is expanding into new markets and is looking for qualified candidates to grow with the Company.

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Manager for our 15 person Maintenance Department. This department is part of our beautiful, state of the art, 230,000 sq. ft. Manufacturing facility and  headquarters located in Buffalo, NY.


 The Maintenance Manager will direct Maintenance personnel, including Mechanics, Electricians, and Facility associates, in their roles and responsibilities to complete tasks and meet Plant and Facility objectives in safety, quality, cost, and customer service.

Essential Job Functions
1. Schedule and coordinate Maintenance Personnel tasks on all shifts.
2. Oversee installation, adjustment, repairs and maintenance of all plant and facility equipment and systems.
3. Ensure that all manufacturing / facility systems are properly resourced and that all resources are efficiently utilized.
4. Assist in planning of all capital projects, PM's, etc.
5. Provide technical support for efficient troubleshooting / problem solving activities and maintenance repair to maximize efficiencies and limit downtime.
6. Continuously apply sound mechanical and electrical solutions to resolve hindrances to plant efficiencies and to drive continuous improvement.
7. Provide leadership in implementing / maintaining preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
8. Manage Maintenance Department costs within budgetary guidelines and initiate cost-savings measures where possible.
9. Ensure that appropriate inventory levels for standard replacement parts are maintained.
10. Manage the building and grounds such that good manufacturing practices (GMP) are adhered to and a professional appearance is maintained.
11. Perform follow-up analysis to identify and resolve recurring downtime / inefficient operational issues.
12. Drive employee engagement, training, and development to maximize manufacturing, quality, safety, and productivity goal attainment.
13. Effectively communicate results and action plans to appropriate Employees and Managers.
14. Ensure all plant maintenance operations are conducted in a safe and controlled environment.
15. Ensure all quality and regulatory standards, specifications and policies are met or exceeded.
16. Participate in the hiring of all new production personnel and coordinate training as necessary. 
17. Interpret Company Policies to employees and enforce regulations relating to safety, attendance, conduct, and other facility policies.
18. Recommend measures to improve production or processing methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
19. Provide performance feedback, counseling, and management for assigned personnel, communicating clearly and directly regarding performance expectations, productivity, and accountability.
20. Review and approve employee time of requests as appropriate based on production needs.  
21. Communicate with Managers from other departments as necessary regarding projects, improvements, etc.
22. May require working on off shift occasionally to evaluate and assess personnel and production needs and processes.
23. Other duties as assigned.
 


















































Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Management or other technical discipline preferred, or equivalent training and experience.
  • Minimum 7 years experience in a Maintenance role in a Manufacturing setting, with a minimum 5 years experience in a Supervisor and/or Manager role.
  •  Experience in printing, injection molding, metal working, or medical manufacturing highly sought.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

  • Must be able to read, comprehend, and execute production orders and operating procedures.
  • Demonstrated strong business acumen with the leadership and functional ability to define and implement plans and concepts.
  • Ability to read & interpret blue prints, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings for parts and equipment
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations, ISO, and other industry regulations.
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of Key Performance Indicators in a Manufacturing Setting.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong people Management skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use independent judgment to make decisions. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time Management skills.
  • Strong listening skills.                
  • Ability to coordinate, direct, and manage the work and performance of others.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical reasoning and deduction skills.
  • Strong ability to handle pressure and stress.
  • Ability to maintain several priorities at once effectively.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Proven knowledge of Parts Maintenance Systems (CMMS).
  • Project Engineering skills.
  • Experience implementing predictive/preventive maintenance programs.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
  •  Basic financial skills and understanding.
