The mission of this internship program is to provide the opportunity for the intern to investigate a career opportunity in their area of study by applying knowledge learned in their course of study. The specific objectives set for this internship assignment are:
The student intern will work with their Supervisors over an approximately 10 week period (Summer 2015), 20-40 hours per week, to roll-out a Microsoft operating system and Office upgrade. We are currently running a mixed environment of Windows XP, 7 and 8 as our desktop/laptop operating system. Our plan is to migrate remainder of Windows XP computers to Windows 7. It is our plan to also complete the upgrade to Office 2010 from our current Office 2003 platform.
The objective of this internship assignment is to provide the intern with experience in implementing an infrastructure upgrade from both a technical and customer service perspective. The student intern will become familiar with the planning, logistics, and implementation of such a project, including the user training and education involved.
The student intern will be meeting one-on-one with each user to convert them to the new platform. The student intern should be able to provide the user with an overview of the new platform and answer basic questions. The student intern will also learn basic help desk tasks and also be exposed to other IT Department functions throughout their assignment.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Must currently be enrolled in, or have recently graduated from a Computer Science/IT related degree program. Bachelors program preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Operating Systems, specifically Windows 7.
