Description
Biomedical Innovations, a premier Medical Device Manufacturer in the Colorado Springs Area, is looking for a Molding Lead to join our 2nd Shift Team.

This position supports department objectives by leading a 2nd Shift Molding Department and assigned team members in accomplishing their daily tasks to ensure maximum productivity, job safety and quality. The position requires competencies that include training, setup, molding, tooling, quality inspection and leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES (other duties may be assigned)

  • Abides by all safety and security rules set forth by the BioMed and regulatory agencies.
  • Follows all employee guidelines and Quality Systems Regulations (QSR’s) as defined by BioMed’s practices, policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to ensure that customer requirements and FDA (or equivalent) regulations are met.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and acts in accordance with BMED’s Employee Guidelines and applicable quality standards as outlined in BMED’s Quality Manual.
  • Leads a team in execution of molding tasks, training, and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Maintains and enhances injection molding processes to minimize scrap, reduce down time and optimize cycle time, including setting up parameters of mold machines per Manufacturing Assembly Instructions.
  • Assists with preparation for start of work to ensure machines are ready for scheduled shift to include mold setups.
  • Works alongside team members, provides training, oversight and guidance; prioritizes work if necessary.
  • Responds to problems by having the ability to troubleshoot plastic injection molding machine issues through processing.
  • Troubleshoots and adjusts molding parameters to maintain quality and maximum product output.
  • Assists and/or leads quality checks and inspections.
  • Provides written communication summarizing shift wrap-up.
  • Ensures work area is maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
  • On time arrival and regular attendance are required.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of two years’ experience of ‘hands-on’ injection molding or similar experience dealing in plastic polymers.
  • Previous experience leading a production team.
  • Mechanical ability/interest preferred.
EDUCATION:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • The ability to read and comprehend simple instructions such as Manufacturing Assembly Instructions, Quality Standards and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • The ability to perform simple writing tasks such as recording log entries, lot numbers and dates.
  • The ability to Perform basic computer entry skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
